How do I turn off SSL in email client: Print

In Mac Mail:

  • Go to mail/preferences
  • Click on accounts tab at top
  • Select your email account on left
  • Then click the advanced button
  • UNCHECK "Use SSL"
  • THEN click the account information button
  • At bottom in outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pull the menu down to "edit SMTP list"
  • Select your e-mail account in the list
  • Select the advanced tab in middle
  • Then UNCHECK "Use Secure Socket Layer (SSL)"
  • then CLOSE/SAVE
In Microsoft Outlook:
  1. Open Outlook and click Tools.
  2. In the Tools menu, select Account Settings.
  3. Select your email account from the list and click the Change. The email settings are displayed.
  4. Click the More Settings... button and select the Advanced tab.
  5. If enabled, remove the checkmarks next to This server requires an encrypted connection(SSL).
  6. Select the Outgoing tab and place a check next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  7. Click OK to update your settings.
  8. Click Next and then click Finish.
